AbstractBased on entries from the Consulate General of Switzerland's Midwest History Blog, this book features 25 stories about the unique contributions of Swiss immigrants and their descendants in the development of the Midwest, ranging from the firsthand report of the Swiss Consul following the two years after the Great Chicago Fire, the arrival and work of the Sulzer brothers in Chicago, the Luzern Artist Atelier, and more. The unique contribution of Swiss immigrants and descendants in the building of the United States is often overlooked, and this book will ensure their stories remain alive and accessible.
