| Abstract | Comments on, and agrees with, a proclamation made "several weeks ago" by Bishop P. A. Ludden of Syracuse, New York: "Die Ehre eines christlichen Begraebnisses wird allen Denjenigen verweigert, die durch einen Unfall am Tage des Herrn umkommen und wobei sich zeigt, dass sie durch eigene Schuld die Pflichten, die ihnen die Sonntag auferlegt, vernachlaessigt haben." Soon after, at the end of July, a 19-year-old boy by the name of William F. Murphy drowned while fishing on a Sunday near Tully. Ludden banned the funeral service scheduled for the third day after the young man's death at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception in Syracuse. |
