AbstractBiographical sketch of Johann Anton Laumeister, 1816-1890. an educated millwright born in Bavaria. Laumeister came to New York in 1848, where he helped to build the Croton Flour Mills. He migrated to California, arriving in San Francisco in 1849, where he founded the Pacific Flour Mills, the first in the city. Eight years later he sold the Pacific Flour Mills, and started the Laumeister Flour Mill at the old Mission San Jose.
