Together they helped establish the town of Stettin, Wisconsin, when that area was still wilderness. The four brothers later moved on and became early settlers near two small towns in the Dakota Territory -- Embden (North Dakota) and Corona (South Dakota). Their three sisters and two cousins stayed in Wisconsin and helped build their communities there.
