Schaller was Professor of German at St. Paul's College, Concordia, MO (1906-1942).
MKI AnnotationJohn William (Johann Wilhelm) Theiss was born 20 September 1863 in Zelienople, Butler County, Pennsylvania. He died 3 March 1932 in Springfield, Ohio. He was a Lutheran minister in Madisonville, Ohio (1886-1889); Portland, Oregon (1889-1893); Santa Rosa, California (1894-1904); and Los Angeles, California (1904-1928). In 1920, he was elected President of the California and Nevada District of the Missouri Synod Lutheran Church. He contributed poems to Die Abendschule, and authored several books of poetry. He was also a watercolorist and etcher.
