AbstractThe historical roots of St. Lukes Evangelical German Lutheran Church, Town of Glendale, Monroe County, Wisconsin, reach back to Germany . . . and efforts to serve the souls of . . . brethren who were scattered an ocean away in Wisconsin. . . . St. Lukes is also linked to the industrialization of Milwaukee, the nation’s labor movement, and the Panic of 1893. Through its complete meeting minutes and portions of a pastor’s wife’s diary, [we can witness] these German immigrants’ assimilation into American culture and their struggles through the “Great Depression.”
