| Abstract | Georg Adam Lay was born 16 December 1739 in Göbrichen, Baden-Württemberg. The "Ortssippenbuch Göbrichen" indicates that Georg Adam was sent to America in May 1744 to Waldoboro, Maine. However, the authors of the 1988 publication, "Broad Bay Pioneers," indicate that no immigrants came by ship to Waldoboro in 1744, and suggest they may have arrived farther south along the coast. The author wonders if Lay may have traveled with Johann Heinrich Ries to Pennsylvania, but so far has not found evidence for this. |
