AbstractFounded in 1798 as the Neuer Hägerstauner Calender by John Gruber, who was born in 1768 at Strasburg, Lancaster County, Pennsylvania. "Next to the Bible there is probably no form of publication so widely distributed and cherished by the people in all countries as the almanac. Probably the most interesting American representative of this class of literature is the Hagerstown Almanack."
