| Abstract | Aus dem Nachwort: "Die dargestellten Ereignisse wurden teils in Nordamerika und teils unter den Türkistämmen Sibiriens gegen Ausgang des neunzehnten Jahrhunderts beobachtet. Die Verse des Bärenkultes gewann der Nacherzähler bruchstückweise aus dem Bericht russischer Anthropologen, der dem Amerikanistenkongreß im Jahre 1928 in New York vorgelegt wurde. Mannigfaltige Anregungen kamen mir aus wissenschaftlichen Schilderungen von Waldemar Bogoras. Die unmittelbare Quelle des Epos war: Franz Boas." Boas was a prominent German-American ethnologist who came from a Jewish-German family. He is considered a pioneer in anthropology and cultural anthropology. Nicholas Michelson was a physician and poet, and was the son-in-law of Franz Boas. |
